Summer Missions

Summer Missions with Missionary Cenacle Volunteers are an opportunity for Catholics and others to live out their faith in service, to have fun and to grow closer to God! Summer Missionary Cenacle VolunteersPrograms range from 1-6 weeks between June and August, depending on the mission site. Volunteers are responsible for their own flight arrangements and travel costs. There are no other application fees or participation costs in our program. Volunteers are provided with meals and housing during service. Applicants must be 18 years or older.

The online application for Summer 2017 is available online as of January 1, 2017.

MCV accepts applications from prospective new volunteers on a rolling basis, and acceptance into the program is dependent on availability and program needs.Volunteers will be selected from the larger pool of applicants.

Trinita, CT

Each Summer MCV selects roughly 20-25 generous volunteers to serve at Trinita’s Family Life Development Program in Connecticut. Volunteers come from as close as local towns in CT and as far away as California and everywhere in between! There is a mixture of returning volunteers from previous years and those new to Trinita. There are men and women ranging in age from 18 to 70+. New volunteers began Orientation Week on June 25, 2017 and they welcomed the first group of families on July 2. Each week throughout the summer, new groups of families from inner cities on the East Coast came to Trinita for faith, fun and family time.

Volunteers also come and go throughout the summer, with an average of 10-12 MCVs serving each week of the program. The final group of families this coming Summer will depart on August 5, and volunteers help clean up before heading home the next day. There is a theme to each Summer's program with daily lessons and activities designed to explore and reflect on the central theme.

Alabama

Shawn Broussard (center, back row in photo) and her daughter Sydney served at the Family Retreat Weekend in Alabama back in June 2012. This was the fourth annual family weekend at Blessed Trinity Shrine Retreat in Alabama, and twelve families attended the program. Shawn and Sydney helped with games, crafts and lessons all based on the theme “The Lord is my Shepherd.”

Jamaica

Luchy De Jesus (far left) served at Vacation Bible Schools at two parishes in Portmore, Jamaica from July 20 to August 7, 2012. Luchy worked alongside local volunteers to lead activities for children and teens. She also enjoyed learning about Jamaican culture and experiencing the celebration of both Jamaican national holidays (Emancipation Day and Independence Day).
